Scrum Product Owner

Overview

With over 75% of agile organisations using the Scrum framework the role of the Product Owner is becoming instrumental in the success of the business. Being a Product Owner encompasses more than writing requirements or managing a product backlog, they are the leader of the Scrum team and champion of both the product and the customer.

The Scrum Product Owner course is a 2-day trainer-led course designed to help the product owner gain an understanding of all product management aspects and explore and develop their skills individually. Using the Scrum framework, Products Owners can improve the products value and outcome-based metrics and leverage true value in the marketplace. 

Who should attend this course?

The Product Owner course may be interesting to all involved in product development upon the Scrum framework. However, it is specifically designed to develop the skills of a Product Owner or Manager, project sponsor or visionary, or entrepreneur. 

What principles we will learn:

Throughout the Scrum Product Owner training, learners will learn how to deliver and manage complex products throughout their lifecycle. During the course, we will look at how the Product Owner role shapes and delivers value to the customer and producer through features and improvements in a scrum-lead environment. 

Learning outcomes

The course objective is to equip the Product Owner with the mindset and tools to enable them to carry out their role. They will learn to successfully work with Scrum teams and stakeholders and effectively increase business agility to maximise value for the organisation and its customers. 

Prerequisites

Before studying the Scrum Product Owner course, we recommend you complete the Agile Fundamentals and/or Scrum Fundamentals course, or have equivalent knowledge.  

Course Outline

The course sessions will take the form of a workshop, working as a whole group or breaking into small groups to explore the content through various interactive exercises. Your trainer will lead a retrospective at the end of each session to help you put what you have learned into concrete actions and practical use.

The course prepares learners for the Scrum.org Professional Scrum Product Owner exam which can be completed separately online for an additional cost. The one-hour exam contains a series of multiple-choice questions and has a passing score rate of 85%.
